Sliced Baked Potatoes (Hasselback-Style)

Posted on June 22, 2025

Crispy edges, tender inside, and perfectly seasoned!

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium Russet potatoes (scrubbed clean)

  • 2 tbsp melted butter or olive oil

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ⅛ tsp black pepper

  • ⅛ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)

  • Optional toppings: grated cheese, garlic powder, fresh herbs, sour cream

Instructions:

1. Prep the Potatoes

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

  • Slice thin, even cuts (about ⅛-inch apart) along each potato, stopping ½ inch from the bottom (so it stays intact).

  • Place potatoes on a baking sheet or in a dish.

2. Season & Bake

  • Brush potatoes with melted butter/oil (get between the slices!).

  • Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and cayenne.

  • Bake for 45–55 mins, basting halfway with more butter/oil, until crispy and fork-tender.

3. Optional Cheesy Finish

  • During the last 5 mins, sprinkle with cheddar or Parmesan and broil until bubbly.

Tips for Success:

🔪 Use chopsticks! Place them beside the potato to avoid cutting all the way through.
🔥 Extra crispy? Brush with butter a few times while baking.
🧄 Flavor boost: Add minced garlic or rosemary to the butter.

Serve hot with sour cream or aioli! Perfect as a side or snack. 😋
