Crispy edges, tender inside, and perfectly seasoned!
Ingredients:
-
4 medium Russet potatoes (scrubbed clean)
-
2 tbsp melted butter or olive oil
-
¼ tsp salt
-
⅛ tsp black pepper
-
⅛ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)
-
Optional toppings: grated cheese, garlic powder, fresh herbs, sour cream
Instructions:
1. Prep the Potatoes
-
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
-
Slice thin, even cuts (about ⅛-inch apart) along each potato, stopping ½ inch from the bottom (so it stays intact).
-
Place potatoes on a baking sheet or in a dish.
2. Season & Bake
-
Brush potatoes with melted butter/oil (get between the slices!).
-
Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and cayenne.
-
Bake for 45–55 mins, basting halfway with more butter/oil, until crispy and fork-tender.
3. Optional Cheesy Finish
-
During the last 5 mins, sprinkle with cheddar or Parmesan and broil until bubbly.
Tips for Success:
🔪 Use chopsticks! Place them beside the potato to avoid cutting all the way through.
🔥 Extra crispy? Brush with butter a few times while baking.
🧄 Flavor boost: Add minced garlic or rosemary to the butter.
Serve hot with sour cream or aioli! Perfect as a side or snack. 😋
