Sausage, Rich Gravy, and Biscuit Pie 🥧

Flaky biscuits smothered in creamy sausage gravy—comfort food at its finest!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sausage (breakfast or sage-flavored)

  • 2 cups milk (whole or 2% for richness)

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuits (or homemade)

  • 1 tbsp butter (if needed for extra fat)

Instructions

1. Brown the Sausage

  • In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned (5–7 mins).

  • If using lean sausage, add 1 tbsp butter for extra fat.

  • Do not drain—keep the drippings for gravy!

2. Make the Gravy

  1. Sprinkle flour over cooked sausage, stirring for 1–2 mins to cook off raw flour taste.

  2. Slowly pour in milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.

  3. Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  4. Simmer for 3–5 mins, stirring until thick and creamy.

3. Assemble & Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Pour gravy into a 9-inch pie dish or cast-iron skillet.

  3. Top with raw biscuit dough (torn into pieces or left whole).

  4. Bake 15–20 mins until biscuits are golden and cooked through.

4. Serve

  • Let cool 5 mins, then scoop into bowls.

  • Garnish with chopped parsley or hot sauce.

Tips

🔥 Extra flavor: Add a dash of cayenne pepper or thyme.
🥛 Creamier gravy: Substitute ½ cup milk with heavy cream.
🍳 Make ahead: Prepare gravy, refrigerate, and bake with biscuits later.

Dig in! This is stick-to-your-ribs goodness. 😋🍴
