Mozzarella Fried Cheese Bites

Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside—these golden mozzarella bites are the ultimate party snack or game-day treat!


Ingredients

  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese (cut into 1-inch cubes or sticks)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs (or panko)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut)

  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)


Instructions

1. Freeze the Cheese (Key Step!)

  • Place mozzarella cubes on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 30 minutes (this prevents melting too fast).

2. Set Up Breading Station

  • Bowl 1: Flour + salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano.

  • Bowl 2: Eggs + milk (whisked).

  • Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs.

3. Bread the Cheese

  • Roll each cube in flour → dip in egg wash → coat in breadcrumbs.

  • For extra crunch, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps (double coating).

  • Freeze breaded bites 15 minutes (to seal the coating).

4. Fry to Golden Perfection

  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pot or skillet.

  • Fry in batches for 30–60 seconds until golden (don’t overcrowd!).

  • Drain on a wire rack or paper towels.

5. Serve Immediately

  • Pair with warm marinara, ranch, or spicy aioli.

🔥 Air Fryer Option: Spray with oil and air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 5–6 mins.
🧀 Cheese Swap: Try cheddar, pepper jack, or cheese curds.
🌱 Gluten-Free? Use almond flour + GF breadcrumbs.
