Mixing Garlic and Honey with Cloves – Remedy for Skin

Posted on July 3, 2025

A natural antiseptic, brightening, and healing mask—great for acne, scars, and dull skin. (Patch test first!)

✨ Benefits of Each Ingredient

  • Garlic: Antibacterial, fights acne-causing bacteria (study).

  • Honey: Hydrates, soothes inflammation, and lightens scars (research).

  • Cloves: Antifungal, reduces redness, and exfoliates (thanks to eugenol) (source).

📝 Recipe (Skin Mask)

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp raw honey (Manuka or local)

  • 1 small garlic clove (crushed or finely minced)

  • 2-3 drops clove essential oil (or ¼ tsp ground cloves)

  • 1 tsp aloe vera gel (optional, for sensitive skin)

Instructions:

  1. Mix honey, garlic, and clove oil/powder in a bowl.

  2. Apply a thin layer to clean skin (avoid eye area).

  3. Leave on for 5-10 mins (max! Cloves can be strong).

  4. Rinse with cool water, then moisturize.

  5. Use 1-2x/week.

⚠️ Important Warnings

  • Patch test first: Cloves/garlic may irritate sensitive skin.

  • Don’t use if: Skin is broken or overly dry.

  • No sun exposure after: Cloves increase photosensitivity.

💡 Enhanced Versions

  • For acne: Add 1 tsp turmeric (anti-inflammatory).

  • For glowing skin: Mix with 1 tsp yogurt (lactic acid gently exfoliates).

Best for: Oily/acne-prone skin. Not for rosacea or extreme sensitivity.
