2-Ingredient Slow Cooker Beer Bread
Prep Time: 5 mins | Cook Time: 2-3 hours (Slow Cooker) | Total Time: 2-3.5 hours
Servings: 6-8
Ingredients
-
3 cups self-rising flour (see note if you don’t have it!)
-
12 oz (1½ cups) beer (lager, pilsner, or ale—avoid dark/stout for milder flavor)
Optional Add-Ins:
-
2 tbsp honey or sugar (for a touch of sweetness)
-
¼ cup melted butter (brushed on top after baking)
-
1 tsp garlic powder + ½ cup shredded cheddar (for savory bread)
Instructions
1. Mix the Dough
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour and beer until just combined (don’t overmix—a few lumps are fine!).
-
(Optional: Stir in honey, cheese, or herbs if using.)
2. Slow Cook
-
Grease the slow cooker insert or line it with parchment paper.
-
Pour the batter in and smooth the top.
-
Cover and cook on HIGH for 2-3 hours (or LOW for 3-4 hours) until a toothpick comes out clean.
3. Finish & Serve
-
If you’d like a crispy crust, transfer the bread to a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes.
-
Brush with melted butter (optional but delicious!).
-
Slice and enjoy warm!
Notes
✔ No self-rising flour? Make your own: Mix 3 cups all-purpose flour + 4½ tsp baking powder + 1½ tsp salt.
✔ Beer choice matters: A light lager keeps it mild; an IPA adds bitterness; a wheat beer adds sweetness.
✔ Storage: Keeps in an airtight container for 2 days or freeze for up to a month.
This bread is crazy easy and pairs perfectly with soups, chili, or even your Italian Beef Sandwiches! 😋 Let me know if you try it!
