Crispy Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings with Soy Glaze

Simple, sticky, and packed with umami—these wings are finger-licking good!


Ingredients (Serves 2-3):

For the Wings:

  • 1 lb (450g) chicken wings (split into drumettes/flats, patted dry)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for extra crispiness)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper (freshly cracked for best flavor)

  • 1 tbsp neutral oil (vegetable, canola)

For the Soy Glaze:

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for GF)

  • 1 tbsp honey (or brown sugar)

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar (or lime juice)

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • ½ tsp ginger, grated (optional)

  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Garnish:

  • Sliced green onions, sesame seeds


Instructions:

1. Crispy Wings:

  • Toss wings with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.

  • Heat oil in a large skillet (or air fryer at 400°F/200°C) over medium-high heat.

  • Cook wings for 10-12 mins, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.

  • Air Fryer Option: Cook for 18-20 mins, shaking halfway.

2. Soy Glaze:

  • In a small pan, mix soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Simmer for 2-3 mins until slightly thickened.

3. Toss & Serve:

  • Drizzle glaze over wings and toss to coat. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.


Tips:

🔥 Extra Crispy: Double-fry the wings (fry once, rest 5 mins, fry again).
🍯 Stickier Glaze: Add 1 tsp cornstarch slurry to the sauce.
🌶 Spicy Version: Swap honey for sriracha or gochujang.

Serve with cooling sides like cucumber salad or ranch dip. Perfect for game day!
