Baked Cajun Catfish

This flaky, spicy, and perfectly seasoned catfish is oven-baked to golden perfection with a bold Cajun crust—ready in 20 minutes with no frying needed!


Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 catfish fillets (about 6 oz each)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade—see notes)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

  • Lemon wedges & fresh parsley (for serving)


Instructions

1. Prep & Preheat

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil/parchment.

2. Season the Fish

  1. Pat catfish dry with paper towels.

  2. Mix Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, and cayenne in a bowl.

  3. Brush fillets with olive oil, then rub seasoning mix evenly on both sides.

3. Bake

  • Arrange fillets on the baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 mins until fish flakes easily with a fork.

4. Serve

  • Squeeze with lemon juice and sprinkle with parsley.

  • Pair with collard greens, rice, or roasted veggies!

Homemade Cajun Seasoning (Skip store-bought!)

Mix:

  • Air fryer option: Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 mins.

  • No catfish? Use tilapia, cod, or salmon.
