Apple Cider Vinegar for Warts: A Natural Remedy

While some claim apple cider vinegar (ACV) can remove warts in 24 hours, results typically take days to weeks with consistent treatment. Here’s how to use it safely and effectively.

🍎 How ACV Works on Warts

  • Acidity: ACV’s acetic acid breaks down wart tissue.

  • Antiviral: May help fight HPV (the virus causing warts).

  • Debridement: Softens and peels away layers of the wart.

⚠️ Note: ACV can irritate healthy skin—use carefully!

🧴 Step-by-Step Treatment

What You’ll Need:

  • Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (like Bragg’s)

  • Cotton ball or pad

  • Bandage or medical tape

  • Petroleum jelly (to protect surrounding skin)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Wart

    • Soak the wart in warm water for 5–10 mins, then gently file with a pumice stone (optional).

    • Dab petroleum jelly around the wart to protect healthy skin.

  2. Apply ACV

    • Soak a cotton ball in ACV, squeeze out excess, and place it on the wart.

    • Secure with a bandage and leave on for 3–4 hours (or overnight for stubborn warts).

  3. Repeat Daily

    • Remove the cotton ball, rinse the area, and reapply 1–2 times daily.

    • The wart may turn dark, blister, or peel—this means it’s working.

  4. Healing

    • Once the wart falls off, keep the area clean and moisturized.

⏳ Expected Timeline

  • 24–48 hours: Wart may darken or feel tender.

  • 3–7 days: Wart begins shrinking or peeling.

  • 1–2 weeks: Wart typically falls off (may take longer for larger warts).

⚠️ Safety Tips

  • Dilute ACV (1:1 with water) if you have sensitive skin.

  • Stop if severe irritation occurs (redness, swelling, or pain).

  • Avoid on face/genitals—skin is thinner there.

  • Not for diabetics or poor circulation—slow healing risk.

For stubborn warts, see a dermatologist for freezing (cryotherapy) or stronger treatments.

🌿 Alternative Natural Remedies

  • Duct tape occlusion (cover wart for 6 days, then file).

  • Tea tree oil (antiviral, dilute before use).

  • Garlic (crush and apply overnight).

ACV is a cost-effective, natural option, but patience is key! Have you tried this method? Share your experience below! 💬
