Cuban Sliders

Posted on August 17, 2025

Here’s a detailed recipe for making Cuban Sliders – a delicious, mini version of the classic Cuban sandwich, perfect for parties, game day, or a fun dinner. These are made with sweet Hawaiian rolls, layered with ham, pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, and a zesty mustard spread, then baked until gooey and golden.

πŸ“ Ingredients:

For the Sliders:

  • 1 package (12-count) sweet Hawaiian rolls (e.g., King’s Hawaiian)
  • 1/2 lb deli sliced honey ham (or smoked ham)
  • 1/2 lb roast pork (deli sliced or leftover roasted pork)
  • 6–8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 12–16 dill pickle chips

For the Mustard Spread:

  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard (or Dijon for a sharper taste)
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional – adds creaminess)
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar (optional – balances acidity)

For the Butter Topping:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried)
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper

🍳 Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).

2. Prepare the Rolls

  • Without separating the individual rolls, slice the entire loaf in half horizontally using a serrated knife.
  • Place the bottom half in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

3. Make the Mustard Spread

  • In a small bowl, mix yellow mustard, mayonnaise, and honey.
  • Spread this mixture evenly over the cut sides of the rolls (both top and bottom halves).

4. Assemble the Sliders

  • Layer the ham evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
  • Add a layer of roast pork over the ham.
  • Place Swiss cheese slices evenly over the pork.
  • Add pickle slices evenly across the cheese layer.

5. Top and Butter

  • Place the top half of the rolls over the pickles to complete the sandwiches.
  • In a bowl, mix all ingredients for the butter topping.
  • Pour or brush the butter mixture evenly over the top of the sliders.

6. Bake

  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 5–8 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and cheese is melted.

7. Serve

  • Let cool slightly before slicing into individual sliders.
  • Serve warm, and watch them disappear fast!

πŸ”„ Substitutions & Variations:

  • Use mojo-marinated pork if you want more authentic Cuban flavor.
  • Swap Swiss cheese with provolone if preferred.
  • Add a thin layer of mojo sauce for extra tang and garlic punch.

🧊 Storage Tips:

  • Store leftovers in the fridge, wrapped or in an airtight container, for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in oven or toaster oven at 300Β°F until warm.

Let me know if you’d like a mojo pork recipe to go with it or want to scale this up for a party!
