Honey Lemon Pepper Wings

Posted on July 6, 2025

Honey Lemon Pepper Wings are a delicious combination of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. Here’s a simple and tasty recipe to make them at home:

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken wings (split into drumettes and flats)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp paprika (optional, for color)

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

  • 1 tbsp baking powder (for extra crispiness, optional)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

Honey Lemon Pepper Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

  • 1 tbsp lemon zest

  • 1 tbsp coarsely ground black pepper (adjust to taste)

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

1. Prep the Wings:

  • Pat the wings dry with paper towels (this helps them crisp up).

  • In a bowl, toss the wings with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne, and baking powder (if using).

  • Drizzle with olive oil or melted butter and mix well.

2. Bake or Air Fry:

  • Oven Method:

    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

    • Place wings on a wire rack over a baking sheet (for even crispiness).

    • Bake for 40-45 mins, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.

  • Air Fryer Method:

    • Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 mins, shaking halfway.

3. Make the Glaze:

  • In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat.

  • Add honey, lemon juice, lemon zest, black pepper, salt, and garlic powder.

  • Simmer for 2-3 mins until slightly thickened.

4. Toss the Wings:

  • Once wings are cooked, toss them in the honey lemon pepper glaze while hot.

  • Garnish with extra lemon zest and black pepper if desired.

5. Serve:

  • Enjoy immediately with ranch or blue cheese dressing, celery sticks, and extra lemon wedges!

Tips:

  • For extra crispy wings, let them sit uncovered in the fridge for 1 hour before cooking.

  • Adjust the honey-to-lemon ratio based on your preference (more honey for sweetness, more lemon for tang).

  • If you like heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze.

These wings are perfect for game day, parties, or just a tasty dinner! Let me know if you’d like any variations. 😊🍗🍋
