Garlic Pizza Sauce

Makes: ~1½ cups

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbspĀ unsalted butter

  • 4 clovesĀ garlic, minced (or 1 tbsp garlic paste)

  • 3 tbspĀ all-purpose flourĀ (or gluten-free 1:1 substitute)

  • 1¼ cups (300ml)Ā whole milkĀ (or unsweetened almond milk for lighter version)

  • ¼ tspĀ ground black pepper

  • ¼ tspĀ saltĀ (adjust to taste)

  • ¼ tspĀ dried oregano

  • Optional: ¼ tspĀ red pepper flakesĀ (for heat)

  • Optional:Ā 2 tbspĀ grated Parmesan cheeseĀ (for extra richness)


Instructions:

1ļøāƒ£Ā SautĆ© Garlic:

  • In a small saucepan, meltĀ butterĀ overĀ medium-low heat.

  • AddĀ minced garlicĀ and sautĆ© forĀ 30-60 secĀ until fragrant (don’t let it brown!).

2ļøāƒ£Ā Make the Roux:

  • Whisk inĀ flourĀ and cook forĀ 1-2 minsĀ until golden (this removes the raw flour taste).

3ļøāƒ£Ā Add Milk & Seasonings:

  • Slowly pour inĀ milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.

  • AddĀ black pepper, salt, oregano, andĀ red pepper flakesĀ (if using).

4ļøāƒ£Ā Thicken the Sauce:

  • Cook overĀ medium heat, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens (~3-5 mins).

  • For extra creaminess, stir inĀ Parmesan cheeseĀ at the end.

5ļøāƒ£Ā Use or Store:

  • Let cool slightly before spreading on pizza dough.

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge forĀ up to 5 days.

  • White Garlic Pizza:Ā Spread on dough, then top with mozzarella, mushrooms, spinach, and chicken.

  • Dip for Breadsticks:Ā Thin with a little extra milk for a dipping sauce.

  • Pasta Sauce:Ā Toss with fettuccine and grilled shrimp.
